In case you aren't on Twitter, take a look. Wikipedia defines it as a micro-blogging site. Others regard it as a 'must' to connecting. Regardless of what you think of it, it is a neat way to keep up-to-date on what people are thinking/doing/reading. I've learned a great deal from the tips articles on Twitips
So apart from your own friends, colleagues, I've met a great number of fantastic people that I'd like to introduce you to. On Fridays, Twitter has a concept called "Follow Friday" where many tweeps mention who they recommend to follow. Below are some of the tweeple I follow and why - I'll add to this list over time as I follow over 700 people now!
Local to me (BC):
@westcoast_dave - this is my husband, and he tweets about life, posts links that make me laugh and cry
@mlacadieux - Stephanie is my husband's former boss, a smart and friendly lady who was just elected to the BC Legislature for Surrey Panorama.
@spudVictoria - local organic food delivery - right to our door! Website has great info on organic food, recipes, etc.
@TWells - another instructor/friend from the Procurement & Contract Management Program
Supply Chain People:
@mbaas - a supply chain systems entrepreneur, who happened to be the first supply chain related follower I had - it was a nice welcome to twitter to learn others were out there!
@ddkurcfeld - fun, friendly and very knowledgeable about US Federal procurement - helping business respond better!
@D2DInc - the company twitter account for above.
@markperera - founder of Procurement Leaders, up-to-date and well-connected on strategic matters with regards to supply chain.
@hal_good - Government procurement director, fun, friendly, knowledgable.
@momontherun - another fun, friendly procurement person, based in Ontario, with a fun blog, and manages a giveaway site.
Business Coaches/Mentors
@marcwarnke - author of ONO and founder of Family First Entrepreneurs - his concepts speak, no sing to me!
...
Celebrities are here too - But who I deem a 'celebrity' may not meet your definition of celebrity (and vice versa).
@yarnharlot - the ultimate in Canadian comedic relief, mainly writes about knitting, but let her loose on politics and you'll bust a gut laughing!
Dragon's Den - I love that show (on CBC for those that don't know it) - most of the dragon's are on twitter!
@ArleneDickinson
@WBrettWilson - a philanthropist and amazingly gifted businessman
@kevinolearytv
@DianneBuckner
@RobertHerjavec - someone who started from nothing - how-to book coming out this year!
@BrentSpiner - most people are stuck on his past role as Data-STNG, but he posts rather witty short stories, 140 characters at a time.
More to come in future editions of Follow Friday
